‘Lights Out, Mics Off’: Know What Happened At Anubhav Mohanty’s ‘Chhakisuna’ Event In Balasore

Balasore: Popular Ollywood actor Anubhav Mohanty had to address the gathering at the recent song release event for the upcoming Odia film ‘Chhakisuna’ in Odisha’s Balasore, without proper stage lighting and a microphone.

The reason: The event continued beyond its permitted time limit. Although permission had been granted only until 10 pm on Monday, the programme faced delays and ran overtime, prompting Sahadevkhunta police to step in. The sound system

and microphones at the venue were switched before the actor could take the stage, according to sources.

Rather than canceling his appearance, Anubhav climbed onto the stage, guided by the flashlights of mobile phones held by the audience, and addressed fans directly without a microphone. He left the venue after speaking briefly. The actor has not issued any statement on the incident so far, and organisers were also unavailable for comment.

The event was also attended by Mohanty’s wife and film producer Jagrati Shukla, along with several other actors associated with the movie, which is scheduled for release during Rajo festival.

Sahadevkhunta police station IIC Alok Kumar Behera clarified that the action was solely to enforce the stipulated time schedule and not due to any law and order problem. “There was no issue at the venue. However, the programme exceeded the permitted time, and we intervened to regulate the situation. Permission was granted until 10 pm, and the event did not continue for much longer beyond that. There was no tension or any untoward situation,” he said.
