Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Sunday closed the entry of devotees to Lingaraj Temple, here after some servitors tested positive for COVID-19.
The BMC, in an order, stated that keeping the spread of COVID-19 in the city, it has taken the decision to restrict the entry of devotees into the 11th century temple. As many as 4 servitors of the temple have tested positive for the coronavirus.
The rituals of the deities will be performed as per schedule inside the temple till further order, the BMC stated. The Rukuna Rath Yatra will be organised by the temple administration as per its previous plan.
The COVID-19 test was carried out among the servitors who will participate in the Rath Yatra on Saturday. The test results are awaited, the BMC said.
