Jagatsinghpur: A group of women on Tuesday blackened the face of a liquor trader and paraded him in the village with a garland of shoes for allegedly selling illicit liquor at Gadaharishpur under Ersama police limits in Jagatsinghpur district.
The activists under the banner of ‘Jhansi Rani Mahila Mahasangh’, an outfit spearheading a movement against alcohol, detained the illegal liquor trader and thrashed him. They alleged that their family members and local residents were suffering owing to rampant sale of liquor in the locality.
On September 2, a similar incident was reported from Kendrapada district where a woman was beaten up by some women anti-liquor campaigners at Gagua Chhak for allegedly vending liquor illegally.
