Bhubaneswar: Litterateur and tribal language researcher Khageswar Mohapatra passed away on Wednesday morning. He was 83.
Mohapatra was undergoing treatment for pneumonia at a private hospital here for the last six days.
He had received several prestigious awards, including Odisha Sahitya Akademi Award, for his remarkable contribution to the field of literature.
Mohapatra, a native of Jajpur district, was the founder of Odia department in Delhi University. He was director of the Odisha Tribal Museum and had been a faculty member at Visva-Bharati, Santiniketan.
Some of the prominent books written by Mohapatra include ‘Samalochana Ra Diga O Diganta’ and ‘Odia Lipi O Bhasa’.
