Nabarangpur: Forest officials have seized a live pangolin and arrested one person in this connection in Odisha’s Nabarangpur district.
As per reports, acting on reliable information, Forest officials intercepted a person going on a bike with the pangolin on Nabarangpur-Kusumi road under Raighar Forest Range on Friday. They seized the pangolin from his possession, but the biker managed to flee.
Later, the officials arrested the person who was carrying the pangolin. He is identified as Sanjit Pulasika from Dumaguda village under Dasamantapur block of Koraput district.
Tanuja Kartik, Ranger, Raighar said they have brought the wildlife smuggler to the range office for questioning to ascertain where he procured the pangolin and involvement of other persons in the racket.
It may be noted that the Special Task Force (STF) personnel had recovered two live pangolins and arrested two persons from Sonepur district on May 17.
