Nuapada: Forest officials have recovered a live pangolin and arrested 6 persons in this connection in Odisha’s Nuapada district.
Following reliable information about a deal being brokered on sale of the live pangolin, a joint team of Forest officials from the district and neighbouring Chhattisgarh conducted a raid on a place in Chaunra jungle near Liad village under Sinapali forest range on Wednesday.
During the raid, the team nabbed the six persons who were engaged in brokering a deal for sale of the live pangolin. The Forest team also recovered the pangolin weighing more than 11 kg from their possession.
Khariar DFO said the six persons admitted that they were involved in wildlife smuggling. They have been forwarded to court after the arrest. Further investigation is on to ascertain involvement of others in the racket, he added.
