Puri: The Chandan Yatra of Lord Jagannath and his siblings here will be observed at Narendra Pushkarini on May 15. It was decided to conduct the Yatra in strict adherence to COVID-19 protocols.
Informing this, Puri Collector Samarth Verma said efforts are on to arrange live telecast of the festival as public gathering has been banned to witness the ‘Chapa khela’ in view of the coronavirus. The Collector further added that only about 50 to 60 participants will be allowed at the pond for the Chandan Yatra.
As decided earlier at the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) meeting, those participating in the festival will have to undergo RT-PCR tests before 72 hours.
A standard operating procedure for the festival and identification of servitors wo will be participating in the yatra will be decided after the Chhattisa Nijog meeting later today, said the Collector.
