Surat: Late monsoon fury is taking its toll on cricket.
For the third straight day, matches in the Legends League Cricket (LLC) 2024 were washed out without a ball being bowled at Surat’s Lalbhai Contractor Stadium.
After their game against Manipal Tigers was a non-starter two days ago, Konark Suryas Odisha were again at the receiving end of nature’s vagaries on Sunday evening. This time, their clash against India Capitals had to be abandoned due to persistent rain, making it impossible to make the ground fit for play.
The teams were awarded one point each.
Debutants Konark Suryas Odisha, who won their opening game against defending champions Manipal Tigers at Jodhpur before sharing points in their next two fixtures, remain in second place in the six-team standings with 4 points and a net run-rate of +0.100.
Southern Super Stars (6 points) are on top of the table, with an all-win record.
Konark Suryas Odisha, who are scheduled to face leaders SSS on October 2, will hope for better luck as far as weather is concerned.
