Bhubaneswar: Ahead of their final match in the league stage of Legends League Cricket (LLC), Konark Suryas Odisha (KSO) find themselves in a do-or-die situation.
Four out of six teams will be qualifying for the playoff stage, and Konark Suryas Odisha are currently in fifth place with 6 points and a net run-rate (NRR) of -0.458, to be just ahead of Gujarat Giants (3 points, NRR -1.002).
Southern Super Stars (10 points) and Toyam Hyderabad (7 points) have sealed playoff berths. They will be joined by either defending champions Manipal Tigers (MT) or India Capitals (IC), who are facing off in the penultimate fixture of the league stage on Thursday.
The winner will go through with 9 points, while the losing team will be tied with KSO on 6.
To snatch the final playoff berth, Irfan Pathan’s men will have to win on Friday at Srinagar’s Bakshi Stadium.
What if Konark Suryas lose their final league game?
They can still make it to the playoffs, but their NRR has to be better than that of the fifth team in fray (losers of Thursday’s match between SSS and MT).
