Jammu: An all-round show by Sri Lankan Dilshan Munaweera was not enough for Konark Suryas Odisha as they went down by 4 wickets to Toyam Hyderabad in a crucial Legends League Cricket (LLC) clash here on Sunday night.
Munaweera’s run-a-ball 51, with 3 fours and a six, helped the struggling Konark Suryas reach a modest 100/9 in 20 overs. Munaweera, who watched his fellow batters fall like nine pins, was there till the final over to give his team a semblance of hope.
The only other batsman to reach double digits was Jesse Ryder (11).
Toyam Hyderabad also struggled in chasing a simple target, with Munaweera capturing 3 wickets.
But skipper Gurkeerat Singh remained calm to take Hyderabad over the line with a well-compiled unbeaten 52 off 50 balls (3×4, 2×6).
KSO, who would have sealed a playoff spot if they had won, remained in third place with 6 points in as many games.
In their last league game, KSO will face Gujarat Giants at Srinagar’s Bakshi Stadium on October 11.
For Toyam Hyderabad, it was their second successive win as they kept alive playoff hopes.
