Locals Block Road in Cuttack As Youth Hacked To Death

Cuttack: Tension prevailed at Gobindpur area in Cuttack district on Friday after an irate mob staged a road blockade demanding the arrest of the culprits in the murder of a youth.

Vehicular traffic on the busy Gobindpur-Cuttack road was disrupted for several hours owing to the blockade.

The agitators including women scuffled with some police personnel who reached the spot and attempted to pacify them.

According to information, a group of unidentified miscreants barged into the victim’s house at Kajalpur village in the district, took him to a nearby place and stabbed him to death.

“Though the exact reason behind the murder is yet to be known, the family members of the deceased have alleged that he was killed by two persons of the same village over an old enmity”, a police officer informed.

However, raids are being conducted at Gobindpur, Sadar and Niali areas to trace and nab the accused persons, the officer said.
