Khurda: Locals of Bhoi Sahi here on Saturday blocked the road near Palaspalli demanding immediate release of a man whose wife’s body was recovered at Tikatala near Khurda-Balangir National Highway-57 this morning.
Police had detained Binod Sethi for interrogation.
The burning tyres stalled traffic movement on the stretch. Even as tension prevailed in the area, Khurda SP and SDPO reached the spot and pacified the agitators.
The woman, identified as Diptimayee Sethi, was found dead with her throat slit. An LIC agent and resident of Bhoi Sahi, she had been missing since Friday. A complaint was also lodged at Airfield police station in this regard.
Her husband Binod Sethi later identified her body.
Khurda SP Diptiranjan Ray said, “The body was recovered with slit throat. There was no blood mark on the spot. We suspect she was killed at a different location last night and her body later dumped here.”
After the body was recovered, a scientific team had reached the spot and started investigation. It was later sent for postmortem.
Though reason behind the murder is yet to be ascertained, sources said she had lend some money to a society.
