Balangir: Tension prevailed in and around Tusura police station in Odisha’s Balangir district following a clash between cops and a group of local residents on Sunday.
As per preliminary information, locals barged into the police station and attacked the personnel present in the complex alleging inaction over certain issues. The police personnel also chased and mild force to disperse the protesters.
Sources said the incident took place following a dispute between residents of Godampada and Phalpadapanapada villages in the area. Residents of Godampada claimed that their issues were not addressed by the police though they had approached them earlier.
As a mark of protest, the residents Godampada residents staged a demonstration outside the police station on Sunday demanding immediate action. However, the situation escalated when some protesters stormed the police station, attempting to damage a police vehicle. The police responded with force and dispersed the crowd.
As the situation remained volatile, additional police force was deployed at the police station and nearby areas as a precautionary measure to prevent any untoward incident.
