Koraput: Locals residents of Jalaput town in Koraput district observed a 12-hour bandh here.
“We have been spending sleepless nights due to extreme heat and lack of electricity supply for the past fifteen days. The officials concerned must restore regular power supply at the earliest and take immediate steps to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply in the locality”, an agitator said.
Almost all shops, business establishments and educational institutions downed their shutters to register their resentment against the local electricity distributing office for its failure to restore power in the area.
Many of the agitators also staged road blockades by burning tyres and staged demonstrations at different places in the town, affecting vehicular movement on major roads.
