Bhubaneswar: Residents of IRC village area on Thursday appealed
Odisha government to stop the e-auction process for establishment of a
hotel in the area.
“The peripheral roads connecting to National Highway and other city
amenities have already become very crowded due to functioning of
hotels like Crown, Siddharth (both are star hotels) besides Kalyan Mandaps,
shopping malls and huge market complexes including the Indradhanu Market. Almost all these commercial complexes have been allowed by the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) for construction without provision of parking place of their
own. Besides, these plots are located purely inside a large residential area having
more than 600 residential plots”, said N-5 Development Council
president Dharma Prasad Mishra in a press conference here on
Thursday.
Citing that the vehicles in this area are being parked on the road side, creating obstruction
to smooth flow of traffic, he added construction of another huge star hotel in the land meant for
parking will multiply inconvenience for the residents.
