Rourkela: An act of bravery displayed by locals prevented a major robbery at a jewellery shop in Odisha’s steel city Rourkela on Friday.
The incident took place at 10 pm last night when four robbers barged into a jewellery shop at Udit Nagar area of Rourkela.
They threatened the shop owner at gunpoint and demanded to hand over all cash and jewellery in the store, said sources.
When the armed robber was threatening the shop owner, the latter’s acquaintances overpowered the miscreant and snatched the weapon.
Though one of the robbers was captured, three others managed to flee from the spot. The entire episode was captured in the shop’s CCTV camera.
The police have arrested the robber and launched a manhunt to nab the rest of them, sources added.
