Rourkela: A woman and her two children sustained critical injuries after being hit by a speeding bus at Bandhamunda Square here on Friday.
The trio was rescued by locals and rushed to Ispat General Hospital (IGH) here. They were later admitted to the ICU of the hospital.
According to available information, the woman and her two children were waiting for school bus when the incident took place.
Irked over the mishap, a mob of nearly 50 people ransacked the bus and staged a blockade near the accident spot by burning tyres, disrupting movement of vehicles on the busy road for several hours.
The exact reason behind the accident is yet to be known. However, locals alleged that the driver was travelling the bus at a high speed and hit the three after losing control over the vehicle while negotiating a sharp turn.
The driver of the vehicle managed to flee the place.
