Balianta: Irate locals set a sand-laden truck on fire after it ran over a girl student at Bhingarpur village under Balianta tehsil in Khurda district on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Puspanjali Sahu.
The incident took place when the girl was crossing the road.
The angry mob thrashed the driver and later staged a road blockade near the spot demanding compensation for the deceased’s family.
On being informed, fire personnel rushed to the spot and doused the fire.
The police detained the truck driver for questioning.
