Bhubaneswar: The lockdown has been extended till May 3 and social distancing has become the main weapon to fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Rising to the occasion, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to promote the use of TickMe mobile app on which the city denizens can place online orders for pickup and delivery of items from nearby grocery stores, medical shops and restaurants.

The innovative app will notify the buyer when the order is ready for pickup or delivery.

“To reduce the delivery time and make the process effective and accurate, the civic body in collaboration with the Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited (BSCL) is first making an inventory of the local shop owners. Once the inventory is in place, the app will be promoted among the customers,” a BMC press release said.

TickMe has been designed by a Charlotte, North Carolina, USA-based team and is being led by an IIT Kanpur graduate. Users can download TickMe App using the link: http://onelink.to/tickme.

“The app will be free for all Android & IOS users and also for shop owners for six months once it is in use under the corporation limits. Following on-boarding of local shop owners, users can link to the platform to get the benefit of the service, it said.

“Once logged in, users can select from a list of the nearest shops (grocery stores, medicine shops etc.) Users can now place the order and enter any specific comments for shop owners. If they want delivery, they just need to mention it in the comments section. Once the shop owner is ready with the delivery, the user will be notified via push notifications when their order is ready for pickup or delivery. Users can call shop owners any time if they have any questions,” the release said.

Shop owners who need more information or support can contact 1929, it added.
