Lockdown 2.0: Non-Essential Shops To Remain Closed In Red Zone Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: There will be no relaxation on the reopening of non-essential shops in Bhubaneswar because the city is still in the hotspot category, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has said.

In a tweet, BMC informed that the lockdown status will continue unchanged.

So far, 46 positive cases of COVID-19 have been detected in Bhubaneswar. However, no new case has been reported after April 14.

Cities, districts or a state having more than 80 per cent of positive cases in the country have been classified as red zone or hotspots. Also, areas that have a doubling rate of less than 4 days are put in this category.

Only essential shops will be allowed to open in the red zones.

Non-essential shops have been reopened in Bhubaneswar’s neighbouring city of Cuttack with restrictive measures such as timing slots, compulsory wearing of masks, 50 per cent staff and strict enforcement of social distancing.
