Lockdown 2.0: Odisha Students Stranded In Kota Seek CM Naveen Patnaik’s Help For Their Safe Return

Rayagada: Around 13 students from Odisha’s Rayagada district, who are stranded in Kota due to the lockdown, took to social media to seek Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s help for their safe return to the state.

Monica, from Rayagada district said, “It is a humble request from all students of Odisha to the State government for our safe return. We have already registered on the dedicated COVID-19 portal, but we have not got any response.”

“As COVID-19 cases are increasing in Kota, we are not feeling safe here,”she added.

Monica also stated that states like UP, Maharashtra and West Bengal have already taken measures to bring back students of their respective states.

Monica along with other students from Odisha have been staying in Kota for the past nine months.

Earlier, students from Rourkela, Puri and Sonepur had made a similar appeal to the Odisha government.

Rayagada Collector, Pramod Behera said, “Parents of six students have brought the matter to our notice that 13 students from the district are stranded in Kota. We will seek Odisha government’s permission as there is restriction on inter-state movement. We will take appropriate measures in this regard.”

Meanwhile, the Odisha government on Sunday said that it would send buses to Maharashtra and Gujarat to bring back stranded migrant workers.
