New Delhi: As the country enters Lockdown 4.0 from Monday, people are looking forward to certain relaxations.
While the Centre will come up with the guidelines, several states have put forward their suggestions regarding the rules and restrictions to be followed from here onwards.
Maharashtra, the worst-affected from coronavirus, pitched for lockdown extension with more relaxations in less affected zones. The state government here is in favour of gradually resuming economic activities in cities like Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai, Pune, Nashik, which reported the maximum cases from the state so far.
The state government is likely to ease restrictions in the non-affected areas in red-zone districts too.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal sent a proposal to Centre stating that the government should allow markets, malls, public transport, including the Delhi Metro, and all offices to open with reduced footfall and working hours.
In Gujarat too, officials want the Centre to lift the lockdown in all cities except Ahmedabad, which accounts for 70 per cent COVID-19 cases in the state.
Meanwhile, some states like Karnataka, Rajasthan, and Kerala have emphasised on specifically easing inter-state travel restrictions on the basis of passes and 14-day quarantine for travellers.
In Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha, the authorities want a stricter lockdown to be imposed due to the rising number of cases on account of the return of migrants. Similarly, Punjab’s Chief Minister, Captain Amarinder Singh is also in for a stricter lockdown. He also said this in the meeting of the CMs with the Prime Minister.
In Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, the stare governments are likely to allow hotels and resorts to open with limited capacity.
The Central government is likely to release the guidelines for Lockdown 4.0 today (May 16).
