Puri: With the Jagannath temple shut down due to the COVID-19 lockdown, the temple administration has decided to provide Rs 5000 to each sevayat family to tide over their financial hardship during the period.
Niti Prasasak (Administrator, Rituals) Jitendra Sahu announced this on Friday.
Sahu said the sevayats manage their families from the donations given by devotees. But as the temple is closed, they have a tough time to eke out their livelihood, he added.
Therefore, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has made a budget allocation of Rs 1,06,50,000 to provide financial assistance to 2130 sevayat families. The SJTA will credit Rs 5000 to the bank accounts of each sevayat, he added.
