Rourkela:  The Plant Site police on Wednesday arrested three persons in connection with the breaking open of a liquor shop two days back in Sector 21 here. The cops also seized four cartons of liquor and an auto-rickshaw used in the crime from their possession.

It may be recalled that on Monday night, a few miscreants entered a liquor shop located in the Nayabazar Market area by breaking its asbestos. They reportedly decamped with six cartons of liquor bottles. Police arrested the culprits from Gopabandhupali after seeing the CCTV video footage.

The arrested trio are Chandan Mandal, SK Salman and Pratap Yadav. They later confessed that they have sold a few liquor bottles to customers and also consumed some of them.

In another case,  eight persons were arrested and 213 litres of illegal liquor were seized along with a motorcycle and a scooter following a raid by Rourkela-12 Excise officials.
