Balasore/Cuttack: Irate dairy farmers poured milk on the roads in Balasore and Cuttack districts on Saturday to protest against the non-procurement of milk by cooperatives due to the complete lockdown against coronavirus.
According to reports, more than 35 women of Raniaganji village in Balasore’s Bahanaga block supply milk to the Balasore-Bhadrak District Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union Ltd (BAMUL) every day. But due to the lockdown, BAMUL has not procured milk from them for five days.
Protesting against this, the irate women took to the streets on Saturday morning and poured about 80 litres of milk on the road.
In another incident, dairy farmers from Raisunguda village in Cuttack’s Salepur poured milk on the road alleging non-procurement of milk by the Odisha State Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation (OMFED).
The OMFED authorities could not be contacted on the matter.
