Bengaluru: While many weddings and social gatherings have been banned during the countrywide lockdown, former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda’s family managed to get his grandson married in a grand manner on Friday.
Nikhil Kumaraswamy, the son of former Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy, married Revathi, the grandniece of a former Congress minister, at a luxurious farmhouse at Ramanagara outside Bengaluru.
As many as 30-40 cars were reportedly seen heading towards the location from Bengaluru, while the media was banned from the district.
Police had reportedly given passes for the cars.
Kumaraswamy said he had taken permission from the Karnataka government prior to organizing the wedding. The former CM also said that he had consulted several family doctors about the event.
On its part, the government has videographed the event. Officials said they will take action if social distancing norms were not followed, India Today reported.
In Karnataka, closed-door weddings with less than 100 people are currently allowed. Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa had mentioned the rule on March 22.
