Puri: District collector Balwant Singh on Friday claimed that all the rituals of Snana Jatra of the deities of Jagannath Temple were being performed as per the lockdown guidelines.
Speaking to mediapersons here, Singh said due to the cooperation of all Nijogs involved in performing the rituals, the festival was going on smoothly as per the schedule.
All the members of the Nijogs concerned, whose names featured in the lists submitted to the administration for Snana Jatra, were tested for coronavirus. Only those who tested negative were allowed to participate in the festival, the collector said.
Singh expressed his gratitude to the Nijogs, temple administration and people of Puri town for following the COVID-19 guidelines during Snana Yatra which is considered as one of the most important festivals of the Lords.
He also thanked the police and district administration for effectively implementing the strict guidelines with a gentle and persuasive approach.
