Bhubaneswar: The state BJP has decided to provide food to poor people daily during the lockdown period as a part of the party’s ‘Daridra Narayan Seva’ programme.
State BJP president Samir Mohanty said, “We have taken a pledge to provide cooked food to about two lakh families, who lack the means to arrange food, during this time of crisis. All the members of the party have been requested to feed at least one person or more as per their capacity per day.”
In audio conferencing, Mohabty instructed all booth-level party workers to make additional provision of cooked food in their homes for feeding poor people in their locality on voluntary basis.
National BJP president JP Nadda, in an audio conference with the State leaders and party workers on Wednesday, had appealed to them to provide meals to five poor people each during the 21-day lockdown.
The party decided to shoulder the responsibility of feeding the poor as daily-wagers were suffering because of the lockdown imposed across the country by PM Modi in view of the coronavirus pandemic.
