Mumbai: Bollywood’s bankable actor Akshay Kumar is also among the most generous celebrities, who is doing all he can to help those in distress during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Akshay, who had made headlines for donating a massive amount of Rs 25 crore to the PM CARES fund, has again stepped forward to offer financial assistance to the artists who are struggling to make ends meet during the nationwide lockdown.
According to reports, Akshay has donated Rs 45 lakh to Cine & TV Artistes Association (CINTAA) for the welfare of struggling artists.
In an interview with ETimes, CINTAA Sr Joint Secretary Amit Behl said, “We have been grateful. This entire thing was initiated by our executive committee member Ayub Khan. He spoke to Jaaved Jaaferi… Jaaved bhai spoke to Sajid Nadiadwala, who then got in touch with Akshay Kumar. Akshay immediately asked for the list of our members and we sent him the list. We have received ‘thank you’ messages from the 1500 members. They have received Rs 3000 each. Sajid and Akshay have promised more funds if the crisis deepens.”
Besides donating Rs 25 crore towards PM CARES fund and Rs 45 lakh to CINTAA, the actor has also donated Rs 3 crore to BMC for making PPE kits and masks.
On the work front, Akshay recently shot an ad film to spread awareness about the responsibilities of citizens post lockdown.
