Ollywood actor Asit Patra has no doubt that the nationwide lockdown was necessary to win the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic that is raging across the world.
He also believes that staying indoors for several weeks can be a blessing in disguise only “if we focus on the positive aspects and handle the situation with a calm and contented mind.”
Staying at home, Asit says, has given him an opportunity to bond with his inner self.
“I’m enjoying the time in solitude by meditating and doing yoga pranayam, as well as spending quality time with family,” observes the Mumbai-based Odia actor, who has played the lead roles in films like ‘Bhairav’ and the Odia version of ‘Devdas’ titled ‘Nayak ra naa Devdas’.
Praying and worshipping the Lord leads to self-purification, feels Asit. “And that is necessary for mental health and inner peace. Spending quality time thrice a day inside the temple in our house and worshipping my beloved Lord gives me immense pleasure and peace,” reveals Asit.
His other activities, while being confined at home, include reading, writing, listening to music, watching movies and web series on OTT.
“I have a very good collection of books in my library. I’ve just finished Valmiki’s Ramayana and started ‘Tao Te Ching’ by Lao Tzu and ‘Shree Sai Sat Charitra’ simultaneously. I’ve been reading some books on acting also,” says the man who has acted in TV serials like CID, Crime Patrol, Pavitra Rishta and Mahadev.
“I love to cook… I’m rustling up some experimental dishes on a regular basis for family members. It’s a great feeling to be receiving compliments on the dinning table,” says a contented Asit.
Last but not the least, Asit has some ideas in mind which he hopes to put into words and in the form of a script in the near future.
