Dhenkanal: The coronavirus-induced nationwide lockdown is an especially difficult time for active sportspersons.
With all sporting activities having been stopped in the country from the last week of March, it has not been easy for sportspersons to stay in touch.
Odisha’s leading Ranji Trophy cricketer Biplab Samantray’s routine has changed dramatically over the last seven weeks.
“I used to go to the Odisha Cricket Academy by 3.30 pm every day. After a cricket session, I would spend time at the adjacent gymnasium followed by a swimming session which is like a recovery therapy after the hectic schedule,” informs the former IPL player.
Now, practising cricket for Biplab has been reduced to some shadow practice inside his house. He also participates in online cricket training sessions to keep himself in tune with the sport.
His cricket may have been hampered, but the former Odisha captain is enjoying family time. He has been playing ludo, chatting and eating together, recalling good memories with his family members.
The right-handed batsman is aware that fitness is of utmost importance when normal activities resume. He has been doing exercises daily at home, focussing on core stability, muscle strengthening and knee rehabilitation work.
The player with an impressive record in domestic and first-class cricket is optimistic that regular action will start in due course and that hopes that he will continue to perform at a high level.
