Normally, I crave good food, which is my passion but post Masterchef, I was craving sleep and family time. Having spent four months in Mumbai with a very busy schedule coupled with the daily stress of competing, one was sleep deprived.
The lockdown happened soon after I returned. I came back to an euphoric welcome. I was glad to be back home and everyone was glad to have me back home. But then, everyone also had high expectations of me, that I would cook one exotic dish after another everyday. So, in the beginning, they let me sleep as much as I wanted to. Once they thought I had my fill, the demands started pouring in. Not to say that I did not want to cook for them. I was most excited to cook different dishes for them and see their reaction.
So I took charge of the kitchen. Yes, you can say that I like to feed my family and it gives me immense satisfaction and happiness. I try out new recipes, restaurant-type food, bake a lot and also do a lot of experimentation (at the cost of my family members of course!)
I also spend considerable time reading up cooking books by different authors and looking up old recipes.
Apart from that, I listen to music. I love to paint or doodle. Since I am not a TV person, I try to engage myself in other things that keep me engaged, which also includes dancing.
However, what I love most is my ‘alone time’ when I go to the terrace and just gaze at the open sky, which is so clear now, hear the birds chirping and generally let my thoughts wander.
Then of course there is social media. I try to remain connected with everyone as much as I can. So, my daily life is well taken care of. I do miss going out and chilling. I hope everything comes back to normal soon.
