Rourkela: A locomotive pilot was allegedly kidnapped and looted of more than Rs 1.5 lakh in Rourkela city of Odisha’s Sundargarh district on Sunday.
According to sources, the incident took place when the loc pilot, identified as Nihar Sarkar of Chhend Colony in the city, was going to his house with some amount of money in the afternoon.
Some unidentified miscreants kidnapped Nihar and took him in a car. On the way, they threatened him and told him to give the money.
Apprehensive of threat to his life, Nihar gave Rs 1,7 lakh with him to the miscreants. After getting the money, they dumped the loc pilot on the roadside and fled.
Later, Nihar managed to reach Chhend police station and lodged a complaint about the incident. The police have registered a case and started investigation, the sources said.
