Bhubaneswar: Honeytrap kingpin Archana Nag and her husband Jagabandhu Chand, lodged in Jharapada Special Jail in Odisha capital, met for 15 minutes on Sunday.
The duo met in the presence of the jail superintendent and a female warder at the office of the special jail, sources said.
According to norms, if members of a family are lodged in one jail, they can apply to the jail superintendent for meeting each other. The jail authorities would ascertain their legal relationship through the document furnished by them and allow them to meet in a special room on the jail premises for 15 minutes on Sunday every week. But they cannot have physical contact with each other and there will be a glass door separating them in the room. They can talk to each other through an intercom phone. A security guard of the jail will also remain present with each of them.
Archana was arrested on October 6 and lodged in Jharapada Jail while police are yet to seek her remand for questioning. Her husband was picked up by police from their Satya Vihar residence in the city on Friday. He was taken to an undisclosed location and arrested after being questioned by some senior police officers. Jagabandhu, who had undergone surgery in the neck recently, had reportedly applied for anticipatory bail in the Orissa high court on Thursday.
The couple has been accused of blackmailing Odisha’s rich and powerful including politicians, businessmen and film producers with threats of making public photos and videos of their intimate moments.
