Lok Sabha Results Update: BJD’s Gamble With 33% Women Candidates Pays Off!

Bhubaneswar: The latest trends in Lok Sabha elections results in Odisha indicate that the BJD is leading in 14 seats and BJP in the remaining seven seats. Puri is witnessing a close fight between BJP’s Sambit Patra and BJD’s Pinaki Mishra. In Kendrapara, BJD is well ahead of BJP with Anubhav Mohanty leading by around 40,000 votes.

Of the seven women candidates fielded by BJD, five – Pramila Bisoyi, Manjulata Mandal, Rajashree Mallick,  Sarmistha Sethi and Chandrani Murmu – are leading in their respective constituencies. Espousing the cause of women, BJD president Naveen Patnaik had promised to send 33 per cent women to Parliament and keeping with it the regional party had given tickets to seven women candidates for Lok Sabha polls.

Aska: BJD’s Pramila Bisoyi leading by over 80,000 votes.

Balasore: BJD’s Rabindra Kumar Jena leading by over 3,000 votes

Berhampur: BJD’s Chadrashekhar Sahu leading by over 43,000 votes

Bhadrak: BJD’s Manjulata Mandal leading by around 5,000 votes

Bhubaneswar: BJP’s Aparajita Sarangi leading by around 8,000 votes

Balangir: BJP’s Sangeeta Kumari Singhdeo leading by around 20,000 votes

Cuttack: BJD’s Bhartruhari Mahatab leading by around 20,000 votes

Dhenkanal: BJD’s Mahesh Sahoo  leading by around 10,000 votes

Jagatsinghpur: BJD’s Rajashree Mallick leading by around 57,000 votes

Jajpur: BJD’s Sarmistha Sethi leading by around 7,000 votes

Kalahandi: BJP Odisha president Basanta Kumar Panda leading by around 20,000 votes

Kandhamal: BJD’s Achyutananda Samanta leading by around 4,000 votes

Kendrapara: BJD’s Anubhav Mohanty leading by around 40,000 votes

Keonjhar: BJD’s Chandrani Murmu leading by around 10,000 votes

Koraput: BJD’s Kausalya Hikaka leading by around 17,000 votes

Mayurbhanj: BJD’s Debashish Marndi leading by around 1,600 votes

Nabarangpur: BJD’s Ramesh Chandra Majhi leading by around 40,000 votes

Puri: BJP’s Sambit Patra leading by around 1,600 votes

Sambalpur: BJP’s Nitesh Ganga Deb leading by around 17,000 votes

Sundargarh: BJP’s Jual Oram leading by around 60,000 votes
