New Delhi: As cases of the infection rise amid fears of a second wave, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has tested positive for COVID-19 and is under observation at AIIMS Covid Centre in the Capital.
According to an AIIMS press release, the Speaker was hospitalized on March 20, a day after testing positive for COVID-19. “He is stable and all his parameters are normal,” AIIMS said on Sunday.
Parliament’s Monsoon session had to be curtailed last year after 30 MPs, including Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari and Prahlad Patel, tested positive for coronavirus.
