Rourkela: A burglar allegedly broke into a jewellery showroom and decamped with valuables worth lakhs of rupees at Rajgangpur town in Odisha’s Sundargarh district late on Monday.
According to sources, the robber climbed into the jewellery shop using a role after breaking the asbestos sheet on the roof and decamped with silver ornaments, weighing around 10 kg, kept in the showcase. He was reportedly unable to break the locker in which gold jewelleries were kept.
He was also caught in a CCTV camera at the showroom while committing the crime.
The owner learnt about the theft after reaching the showroom this morning.
On being informed, Rajgangpur police reached the spot and initiated an investigation. CCTV footage of the showroom and nearby places are being examined to ascertain if more than one robber was involved in the incident, the sources added.
