New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki has had decent sale numbers for its only MPV, the Ertiga. Now, the company is ready to launch the Indonesian spec Ertiga in India. The launch, which was expected to happen before Diwali, has now been postponed to late November considering delivery issues, sources say.
The new Ertiga shares the same Heartect platform on which the Swift and Dzire are based. It has grown longer by around 150mm and also a few millimetres wider. This translates to a bigger and spacious cabin. Maruti is jazzing up the new Ertiga with projector lamps and new alloys. The cabin, like other new Marutis will have a touchscreen infotainment system along with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
It will be powered by a new 1.5 litre petrol engine that debuted with the new Ciaz. The same 1.3 litre diesel unit will continue on this new model too. An optional AMT is also in the works.
The new Ertiga will compete against the Renault Lodgy, recently launched Mahindra Marazzo and even the Toyota Innova. The prices are expected to higher than the existing model.
