Kendrapada: With the arrest of two criminals and the seizure of several weapons, police have claimed to have foiled a plot by a gang of vehicle lifters to loot trucks in Odisha’s Kendrapada district.
A police team caught the two when 11 gang members were worshipping swords, knives and other sharp weapons at a hide-out at Hazari village with a plan to loot trucks on National Highway 5(A) in the district on Saturday, sources said.
Nine others managed to escape during the raid and efforts are on to nab the rest.
The gang, stated to have been active in Kendrapada and nearby areas, was targeting vehicles, especially trucks. Those arrested had a history of crimes, said a police official. They have been booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code.
