Lootera Gang Busted In Cuttack; Couple Among Five Nabbed

Cuttack: In a late-night raid, the Choudwar Police busted a lootera gang and arrested five persons including a couple.

Police seized 220 grams of gold ornaments, 237 grams of silver and two bikes from their possession.

Of the five arrested, three have been identified as Harihar Samal, his wife Mami Samal and Suryakanta alias Tapu.

According to police, Harihar, the prime accused used to sell the looted items through his wife.

Police had begun an investigation into the matter 10 months ago after Pradip Pradhan of Kapaleswar village had lodged a complaint on the looting of his valuables from his house.

Efforts are on to nab the other two gang members, police added.
