Puri: The Chandan Yatra of Lord Jagannath and his siblings will be held outside the Jagannath temple at Narendra Pokhari here in adherence to all the COVID guidelines.
This was decided at a virtual meeting headed by Chief Administrator of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Dr Krishan Kumar, on Thursday.
However, a minimum number of sevayats will be allowed to perform the rituals during the yatra. The list of sevayats and the decision of Chandan Yatra will be finalised after the Chhatisa Nijog meeting scheduled on May 11, SJTA stated after the meeting.
It may be mentioned here that Chandan Yatra will start from Akhaya Tritiya on May 15.
Due to Corona pandemic, the Chandan Yatra was held inside the temple premises last year.
COVID situation in Puri was also discussed in the meeting. As per the discussion, a door-to door survey will be conducted for vaccination of servitors and another vaccination centre will be opened, if necessary, informed Temple Development Administrator Ajay Kumar Jena.
The SJTA will also take steps for procurement of masks and sanitisers for use during Chandan Yatra, Snana Yatra and Ratha Yatra of the Trinity.
