‘Love Affair’ Angle In Murder Of Missing Mother-Son Duo; Bodies Recovered From Odisha Canals In Sacks

Koraput: Bodies of a woman and her teenage son, who had been missing since February 20, were recovered in sacks  from separate canals at Borigumma in Odisha’s Koraput district.

The deceased have been identified as 45-year-old Anushka Parida and 14-year-old Aham Parida. Anushka’s brother, Satyaban Patra, had lodged a written complaint at Borigumma police station regarding their disappearance.

According to sources, police along wi

th firefighters recovered the body of the woman from Jayantagiri canal on Tuesday morning after being altered by locals, a day after the body of the boy was found stuffed inside a sack and dumped in Andaramunda canal under Kotpad police limits.

The double murder is suspected to be the result of the family’s disapproval of a relationship between Anushka’s minor daughter and a local youth, who then allegedly killed the duo before disposing of their bodies in sacks in the canals.

Borigumma police have launched an investigation into the matter. “A murder case had been registered. The daughter and her boyfriend have been detained at the police station. Their interrogation is underway. We suspect their involvement in the double murder over the family’s opposition to their love affair,” a senior police officer told the media.
