Love-Struck Man Murders Wife, Two Sons In Odisha’s Kalahandi

Bhawanipatna: Police on Tuesday arrested a man in connection with the alleged murder of two children and their mother, Bimala Majhi, at Sinjharan village under Sadar police limits.

The bodies were recovered near a railway track in Kalahandi district the previous day.

Talking to the media here, SP (Kalahandi) B Gangadhar said the accused Linga Majhi, who is the husband of the murdered woman, had confessed to the crime.

The SP said that couple had a quarrel after Bimala got to know that Linga had tied the knot with a married woman. He had eloped with the other woman and celebrated the Nuakhai festival with her recently.

“The accused wanted to get rid of his first wife and two sons, Rabindra Majhi (4) and Dushmanta Majhi (6). He first killed his wife and threw her body on the railway track near his house. Later, he went to his house and killed his two sons by slitting their throat. He dumped the bodies at the same place,” he said.

The accused was nabbed after the sniffer dog followed his scent from the house of his second wife in the village. He will be forwarded to the court after interrogation, the SP added.
