Lover Couple Commits Suicide In Successive Days In Odisha’s Jajpur

Jajpur: A lover couple allegedly committed suicide one after another in two days in Odisha’s Jajpur district.

According to sources, Prabhat Kumar Lenka of Birijanga village under Byree police station in the district was in love with a girl of Byree. Though they wanted to marry each other, the girl’s family objected to their relationship.

On Sunday, Prabhat hanged himself with a rope in his house. His family members rushed him to the hospital at Badachana and later, shifted him to SCB Medical College and Hospital at Cuttack. But the doctors at the SCB Medical declared him brought dead.

Prabhat’s family lodged a complaint at Byree police station alleging that he committed suicide due to physical and mental torture by his girlfriend’s relatives. They sat with Prabhat’s body, demanding action against the girl’s family immediately. However, the police convinced them of looking into the matter and sent them home.

On Monday morning, the girl’s family found her hanging in her room of their house. On being informed, a team from Byree police station went to the spot and started investigation. Nobody has been arrested in this connection.
