Bhubaneswar: The Deep Depression over westcentral Bay of Bengal moved northeastwards during past 6 hours with a speed of 8 kmph and lay centered at 5.30 am on Monday over Westcentral Bay of Bengal, about 400 km south of Paradip (Odisha), 550 km south-southwest of Digha (West Bengal) and 690 km south-southwest of Khepupara (Bangladesh), the office of Special Relief Commissioner, Odisha, informed.
The system is likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm during the next 12 hours and move nearly north-northeastwards and cross Bangladesh coast between Khepupara and Chittagong around October 25 evening as a Deep Depression, it added.
If this system intensifies into a cyclone, it will be called Hamoon, a name given by Iran.
“Though there is a possibility of the formation of a cyclonic storm, it is likely to be a very weak system. It will have a marginal impact on Odisha, bringing in light to moderate rain. The system at the sea will be around 200 km from the state’s coast,” senior scientist of regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) here Umasankar Das said.

Squally wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph gusting to 70 kmph is very likely till October 24 and gradual decrease thereafter over West central Bay of Bengal.
Squally wind speed reaching 40- 50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph is likely over North Bay of Bengal off Odisha coast on October 23 and it likely to increase gradually becoming gale wind speed reaching 60-70 kmph gusting to 80 kmph on October 24 and gradually decrease thereafter over north Bay of Bengal. Also, squally wind speed 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph is very likely along and off Odisha coast from October 24-26.
Sea condition will be rough to very rough over westcentral Bay of Bengal till October 24, and it will be rough to very rough on October 23 becoming very rough to high on October 24 over north Bay of Bengal and also sea condition rough to very rough along and off Odisha coast from October 23 morning to October 25.
Fishermen warning
Fishermen have been advised not to venture into westcentral Bay of Bengal till October 24 and along and off Odisha coast and north Bay of Bengal from Octoner 23-25. Those in deep sea are advised to return to the coast immediately.
