Bhubaneswar: International hockey stars from Odisha, Stalin Victor Minz and Lilima Minz, got engaged in a low-key ceremony in Sundargarh on Friday evening.
The ring ceremony was held at Lilima’s village Bihabandh-Tanatoli under Lanjiberna block. Former India captain Sunita Lakra and the players of the ECoR team (Stalin is currently the coach of the team) were present. The date of their marriage will be fixed in a day or two, sources said.
“We decided to keep the ring ceremony a low-key affair as we wanted to focus more on hockey. The marriage will most probably take place in a couple of months. and will be a grand affair,” said Stalin.
Notably, the two-time Asian Games medallist, Lilima, announced her retirement in October this year. The midfielder played 156 matches for India, scoring 12 goals, since her debut in 2011. She was a part of the team that represented India at the Rio 2016 Olympics after a gap of 36 years.
