Bhubaneswar: The cyclonic circulation over northwest Bay of Bengal and its neighbourhood has intensified into a low pressure area off the Odisha-West Bengal coasts.
“Under the influence of the cyclonic circulation over northwest Bay of Bengal & neighbourhood, a low pressure area has formed over northwest Bay of Bengal off Odisha-West Bengal coasts with the associated cyclonic circulation extending up to 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height. It is likely to become more marked during next 24 hours,” the meteorological centre in Bhubaneswar said.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD)’s regional centre has forecast extreme rainfall in Odisha till August 10 due to the strengthening of the monsoon flow and low pressure area.
