Bhubaneswar: A low-pressure area has formed over central and adjoining north Bay of Bengal, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Thursday.
“Under the influence of a cyclonic circulation over eastcentral Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood, a low-pressure area formed over central and adjoining north Bay of Bengal at 8.30 am. It is likely to move west-northwestwards and become more marked over westcentral and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal by August 30. Thereafter, while moving towards north Andhra Pradesh and adjoining South Odisha coasts, it is likely to intensify into a depression over westcentral and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal during subsequent 2 days,” the MeT office said.
The weather agency has forecast heavy rainfall in Odisha from August 29-31. Isolated very heavy rainfall is also likely during August 29-30 and extremely heavy rainfall on August 30.
