Low Pressure Forms Over Bay Off Odisha Coast; IMD Issues Orange Alert For 5 Dists

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange warning for five districts of Odisha till 3.41 pm on Sunday.

Moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorm/lightning and wind speed reaching 40 kmph may occur at most places in Bhadrak, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur and Kendrapada in the next 3 hours.

This warning has come amid formation of a low-pressure area over westcentral and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal off North Andhra Pradesh & South Odisha coasts. It is likely to move west–northwestwards and concentrate into a depression during the next 24 hours and cross south Odisha-north Andhra Pradesh coasts around the forenoon of August 19, according to the weather agency.
