Bhubaneswar: The cyclonic circulation over central parts of Bay of Bengal and adjoining north Bay of Bengal intensified into a low pressure area over central parts of North Bay of Bengal on Wednesday morning.
“It is likely to become more marked during next 24 hours and move across south Odisha-north Andhra Pradesh coasts and south Chhattisgarh during next 3 days,” the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed.
Under it influence, Odisha may continue to experience scattered heavy to very heavy rainfall with isolated extremely heavy during next 24 hours. The districts that has been issued red warning are Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Angul, Nayagarh, Boudh, Sonepur, Kandhamal, Ganjam. Heavy to very heavy rainfall may also occur at one or two places in Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, Puri, Gajapati, Rayagad, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Balangir, Bargarh, Sambalpur.
Yellow warning of heavy rainfall has also been sounded for Koraput, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Bhadrak and Kendrapada districts.
The weather agency has warned of flash flood, water-logging in low lying areas, inundation of agriculture field, mudslides or landslides in vulnerable hilly areas. The intense spells of rain might lead to a significant rise in the water level of rivers. There is also a possibility of some damage to kutcha road and houses and waterlogging at underpass road and occasional reduction of visibility leading to traffic congestion in urban areas. Farmers have been advised to postpone fertiliser/chemicals application in agricultural field, keep livestock in safe place.
The intensity of rain is likely to decrease slightly thereafter.
